I have been on a long and winding road, studying organizations from the inside out…across industries, organizational size and type…watching the people, processes, policies…the frustration, miscommunication, misrepresentation, and misery in the individual lives that make up organizations. What struck me each and every time was that no matter how steeped in data, how intellectually framed, decisions are based in an individual’s emotional belief system. Just watch the news—you get it now.

So after 40 years of exploring…being a student and a teacher, an employee and employer, a team member and team leader, a supervisor, a manager, an executive, a board member, an executive committee member, an internal consultant, and an external consultant…I choose to just be me and to speak directly with you. You matter. You make a difference every day, without even trying. You were born to do something that, without you, will go undone. There is no competition, there is no race. You are not to be like someone else or fill someone else’s shoes. You are to walk your own path, your own way, yet still walk with others. This is my way to walk with you. You are unique but not alone. Your voice matters but so does everyone else’s. How can we do our best work and live our best life? One moment at a time. Let’s own them and make each one count.
