Being "Fearlessly Authentic"

Being “fearlessly authentic” is more than a foil wrapper saying from my Dove milk chocolate fix. It is at the core of my transformation adventure. I left the organizational world because I couldn’t be authentic it any longer. This does not mean YOU can’t. it just means that I’m called to do and be something different now. All that I did and was remains good and right for then, but for me, being fearlessly authentic means letting go of what no longer fits and embracing the unknown until I find what does fit, now. It is the space in between –the letting go when you can barely see what is there to grab onto—that is the visceral experience of what we refer to as “embracing change”. What is so disconcerting, so scary, and so very uncomfortable is that there isn’t anything tangible to embrace yet…except hope.

It is always this way. Sometimes the uncertainty and hope period last days or weeks, and in some cases, it takes years. But contrary to our desires, the letting fo of what doesn’t fit us and embracing what does happen gradually over time, IF we are paying attention. It is this why with all transformations. The need for change doesn’t just suddenly appear. There are always signs to the keen observer. It’s just when they reach critical mass that we allow ourselves—our conscious minds—to see/admit that a transformation is already in progress. At this point we have 2 choices:

1) face the facts and all of the uncomfortable feelings that surround the necessary next steps of letting go of what doesn’t fit and embrace the unknown to find what also, or

2) denial—trapping the truth and focus our energy on keeping it silent. Being fearlessly authentic means you always choose option #1.

And so I write.
